In a tragic incident in Boston, Massachusetts, Paruchuri Abhijit, a 23-year-old engineering student from Boston University, was found deceased in his vehicle situated in a nearby forest. The young student, originally from Burripalem in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, was reportedly robbed and killed for his money and laptop. He was discovered on March 11, and the local police are still investigating to identify the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
Having joined Boston University the preceding year, Paruchuri Abhijit resided in a rental accommodation with fellow students. The alarm about his disappearance was raised when he failed to return from college. Friends, growing increasingly worried, reported his absence to the authorities. It was following their report that law enforcement officers located him by tracing his cell phone signals.
Despite initial concerns, the cause of death was determined to be an act of robbery, leaving the university community in turmoil. Abhijit’s demise has reignited debates on the safety of Indian-origin students abroad as the event adds to a series of unfortunate deaths among the demographic in recent times.
The only child of Paruchuri Chakradhar and Srilakshmi, Abhijit’s family members revealed that his mother had reservations about her son’s pursuit of further education overseas. She eventually consented, considering his aspirations and potential for future success.
