Car accident in Boston

On Saturday morning in Brockton, Massachusetts, a pedestrian incident took a fatal turn, resulting in the death of a 50-year-old man. Authorities have reported intentional harm caused by the driver of the SUV involved in the crash.

Stuart Smith, the victim, passed away late on Saturday night due to the severe injuries sustained during the incident. Vasco Semedo, 45, the driver who has been accused of deliberately striking Smith with his vehicle, is now faced with murder charges.

Brockton police responded to multiple 911 calls around 8:53 a.m. regarding a pedestrian accident at 65 North Main Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Smith lying unresponsive on the ground near a Toyota Rav 4, with Semedo being restrained by bystanders.

Smith was initially rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital, and later airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he died at 10:34 p.m. the same day, as confirmed by officials.

An investigation, incorporating eyewitness testimonies and security camera footage, led detectives to conclude that Semedo had deliberately struck Smith with the Rav 4, reversed, and hit him a second time. Semedo is also accused of subsequently assaulting Smith with a brick while he was on the ground.
