In a recent accident that occurred in Quincy, a WHDH Boston reporter suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in a crosswalk. Dave Puglisi experienced the traumatic event while returning home at around 6:47 p.m. on March 6 at the intersection of Dennis Ryan Parkway and Cottage Ave. Quincy Police confirmed the details of the incident, which included two broken bones in Puglisi’s spine.
The collision has temporarily taken Puglisi off-air as he recovers from his injuries. He conveyed through social media that, despite being able to walk a little, he is dealing with persistent pain and is anxiously awaiting his return to his reporting duties. Puglisi also used his experience to remind the public about pedestrian safety.
Quincy Police have cited the driver for a crosswalk violation. It was noted that the driver might have been suffering from a medical issue at the time of the accident, which potentially contributed to the unfortunate event.
The station expressed well-wishes for Puglisi’s quick recovery following the incident. The incident added to concerns about pedestrian safety in Quincy, as it followed closely on the heels of a separate pedestrian hit-and-run in the city. On February 27, a pedestrian was struck by a mid-size dark-colored SUV in a crosswalk and the driver fled the scene. The victim of this previous accident was taken to a hospital, but the suspect remains unidentified.
