In a tragic event in Devens, Massachusetts, a truck driver perished in a fiery crash into a health facility, according to authorities on Wednesday. The collision took place in the early hours, shortly after 5:30 a.m., at the address on Patton Road, identified as TaraVista Behavioral Health Care Center, which serves as an inpatient psychiatric facility for Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.
The impact precipitated a fire that necessitated the response from firefighters, who managed to douse the flames promptly. Law enforcement sources suspect the truck crash may have been intentional as the driver, whose identity is withheld, allegedly had a relative previously treated at the healthcare center. All patients and staff at TaraVista were accounted for and remained unharmed, with no patient areas reported damaged.
Investigative teams from the Massachusetts State Police and the state Fire Marshal’s Office have initiated probes into the incident, while local police are examining the details of the crash. The CEO of TaraVista and MiraVista Behavioral Health Centers addressed the media, assuring that the building is structurally intact and the facility will resume accepting new patients shortly. The present count revealed a full capacity of 117 occupants at the time of the incident, all of whom are safe.
