In a tragic incident in South Boston, a young child lost her life after being struck by a vehicle on Sunday evening. The four-year-old girl was fatally hit at the intersection of Congress and Sleeper streets, in the vicinity of the Boston Children’s Museum, shortly after the hour of 5 p.m.

The Boston Police Department reported that the young child was in the company of her family at the time of the collision. In the wake of the accident, she was urgently transported to Massachusetts General Hospital by emergency medical services, where she was pronounced deceased.

Superintendent Lenita Cullinane of the Boston Police expressed her gratitude for the community’s immediate response. “We want to thank members of the community who came down and provided assistance to the victim and the family,” remarked Superintendent Cullinane after the event.

Authorities confirmed that there have been no arrests nor charges filed presently. The driver involved in the shocking accident cooperated with law enforcement, remaining at the scene and partaking in the investigative procedures. Superintendent Cullinane noted that the driver “was in the process of being interviewed.” She stressed that the police’s examination of the unnerving circumstances leading to the accident is still actively underway.

The site of the incident was cordoned off with caution tape while police and emergency vehicles occupied the area, serving as a stark reminder of the evening’s heartbreaking events.
