MANCHESTER, NH – A tragic car accident on March 1st has left Caleb Grondin, a sophomore at Central High School, with severe injuries, including a severed spine. The accident took place while Caleb and friends were headed to Hampton Beach. In the aftermath, a fundraiser has been established to support the Grondin family as they face mounting medical expenses and the challenges of Caleb’s long-term needs.
On the fateful morning, the car carrying the group was involved in an incident that resulted in significant trauma for Caleb. He was quickly transported to Boston Children’s Hospital, where it was discovered that the disc between his T11 and T12 vertebrae was shattered. This injury has led to Caleb being classified as paraplegic, with no control over his legs or pelvic organs.
The Grondin family has a history of supporting their community, and now they find themselves in a position of need. The implications of Caleb’s injuries extend far beyond his initial hospitalization. There is an anticipated financial burden due to the airlift, hospital stay, surgeries, therapy, and the continuous care that Caleb will require. As he begins the inpatient rehabilitation process, the family has to consider modifications to their home, transportation costs, and support mechanisms required for Caleb’s ongoing recovery.
